A GLIMPSE INTO AWUDOME SHS STUDENTS' REPRESETATIVE COUNCIL (SRC)
The Student Representative Council (SRC) of Awudome Senior High School is the student leadership elected/appointed to steer the affairs of the student body. The SRC also represents the student body in school decision making processes. All prefects and class representatives are addressed by the title 'Honourable'.
It is evidentially marked in the history books of the school that, the SRC has embarked on enviable and life-saving projects that have helped the students and the school at large. It has become a tradition that every year the SRC contributes their quota to the development of mother AWUSCO in different areas of school development. Indeed, this tradition has been honored and continues unabated.
The SRC is hailed by the slogan: “The Voice of the Students”.
PROJECTS
As far as the SRC is concerned, the total wellbeing of the student is important, hence, the need to support the school in the health sector. The 2021/2022 SRC procured a Toyota Vitz Saloon car to serve as a health service car for transporting students from the school’s infirmary to the clinic or hospitals in times of emergency.
The 2022/2023 SRC has also fixed the school’s Eicher bus which had broken down for about ten years. This initiative has helped eliminate some of the school’s transportation challenges.
The 2023/2024 SRC also purchased a new Public Address System that is of great help to the institution. Formerly, the school had just one mixer and two speakers which were unreliable during times of great need. This new initiative reduced the problems the school encounters when hosting programs and events.
Also in progress is the school canteen extension project. The extension would create more space in the canteen, reduce stress and improve time management.
NEW PROJECTS
In our quest to further enhance educational experiences, the SRC humbly appeals for support in acquiring a brand-new 65-seater bus. This addition will significantly contribute to the success of our educational programs, ensuring students have better access to enriching opportunities such as educational tours, competitions, and excursions.
To show our commitment to this project, each student has pledged to contribute GH₵ 50.00 per semester towards the purchase of the bus. However, we also appeal to any benevolent individuals or organizations that are willing to assist in making this goal a reality. Your support in this endeavor would be sincerely appreciated, and it will leave a lasting impact on the school community.
SRC ATTIRE
The SRC has an attire for its members which serves as a Friday wear for students. The attire comprises a Lacoste for both boys and girls, blue-black trousers for the boys and a blue-black box pleated skirt for the girls.
